PALM HARBOR, FL – August 27, 2024 – St. Mark Village, an award-winning continuing care retirement community in Pinellas County, has been recognized as among the best in offering senior care in 2025, according to both Newsweek and US News & World Report. The ratings offer a look at the best senior living communities across the United States to assist older adults and their loved ones when researching and choosing the right senior living community for them.
“We are thrilled to once again receive these accolades,” said Chief Executive Officer and President Jeff Gorddard. “Our team members and residents are what makes us so successful in fulfilling our mission and in providing outstanding care. These awards are just more proof of the genuine care and concern we have for one another, they demonstrate our outstanding teamwork and collaboration, and thankfully we have a lot of fun together and make life-long memories in the process.”
The Newsweek award is presented in collaboration with Statista, the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider. America’s Best Continuing Care Retirement Communities 2025 were identified through an independent survey which included thousands of participants. The survey highlighted the following parameters: National Online Survey, Accreditation, Visitor Satisfaction, and Google Reviews. St. Mark Village is a legacy winner, having secured the accolade in consecutive years since the award’s founding.
St. Mark Village earned its U.S. News Best Nursing Home status by achieving a rating of “High Performing,” the highest possible rating, for both Short-Term Rehabilitation and its Long-Term Care. U.S. News gives the designation of Best Nursing Home only to those that satisfy U.S. News’ proprietary assessment of consistent performance in quality measures. For the 2025 edition, U.S. News evaluated nearly 15,000 nursing homes on patient and resident outcomes, such as infection rates; staffing levels; potentially inappropriate reliance on antipsychotic drugs; health inspection results and other indicators of quality. To calculate the Best Nursing Homes ratings, U.S. News evaluated each nursing home’s performance using a variety of quality measures obtained from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The U.S. News methodology factors data such as resident care, safety and outcomes. Both short- and long-term ratings include data on nurse staffing, use of antipsychotic drugs and success in preventing ER and hospital visits. The long-term care rating also includes measures of whether a home changed ownership and how well it was staffed on weekends.
“U.S. News’ Best Nursing Homes ratings put patient well-being at the forefront and provide families with the objective information they need to make confident decisions about their loved ones’ care,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News. “These annual ratings recognize U.S. nursing homes that deliver high-quality care, earning consistent positive outcomes, and support American families in finding local nursing homes that prioritize safety and well-being.”
St. Mark Village also earned a very rare five-star rating in all three healthcare categories by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The community’s most recent accolade prior to this announcement is inclusion in the 2024 Best of the Best People’s Choice award by the Tampa Bay Times.
