PALM HARBOR, FL – St. Mark Village earned a five-star rating in all three healthcare categories by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). According to CMS.gov, the Five-Star Quality Rating System was created to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily and to help identify areas about which prospects may want to ask questions.
Health plans are rated on a scale of one to five, with five being the highest; organizations with five stars are considered to have much above average quality. There is one overall five-star rating for each nursing home, as well as separate ratings for health inspections, staffing and quality measures. In each category, St. Mark Village earned five stars, along with the collective five-star rating.
“This 5-star rating is a testament to our fantastic team that works so hard every day to care for our residents,” said St. Mark Village CEO Jeff Gorddard. “Our team members are truly what makes St. Mark Village special, and I am so humbled by the care they provide.”
Earning five stars in all categories is rare. There are only four other healthcare providers that have achieved five stars in all categories within 100 miles of St. Mark Village.
“We know that the five-star rating is not the only measure of success, however it’s something we want to recognize and celebrate,” said Senior Director of Healthcare Randall Rees. “This is a reflection of the hard work we’ve put in over the past three years, and every team member has played a part in making this possible.”
St. Mark Village was also recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a 2023-2024 Best Independent Living, Memory Care, and Continuing Care Retirement Community in 2023. The formal announcement was made on May 5.
